On July 27, the heads of the Milli Majlis’ (Azerbaijani Parliament) inter-parliamentary relations working groups appealed to the parliaments of foreign countries, the Press and public relations department of the Milli Majlis announced, APA reports.

The appeal states that the recent information circulating in the international community about alleged food and medicine shortages faced by Armenian residents living in the areas where the Russian peacekeeping forces are temporarily stationed in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan is a political manipulation aiming to mislead the international community. It targets Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. It is noted that the closure of the Aghdam-Khankendi road proposed by Azerbaijan for the transportation of humanitarian goods to the city of Khankendi and surrounding villages by separatists indicates the true intentions of the forces behind this campaign. It is reported that the goal is to prevent the reintegration of the Armenian residents of Karabakh into Azerbaijani society or to prolong this process as much as possible.

The appeal emphasizes that the Armenian leadership has repeatedly declared Karabakh as Azerbaijani territory; therefore, there is no need to transport food and other goods from Armenia for the Armenian residents in the region. Regarding the situation with the Lachin road, it should be noted that this road is also an integral part of Azerbaijan’s sovereign territory. Thus, Azerbaijan has established a border-crossing point on its own territory for the use of its own citizens. It is reported that the recent decision of the International Court of Justice has also confirmed Azerbaijan’s rights in this regard. Armenia, which cannot digest this, is the party responsible for restricting the use of the Lachin road due to firing at the Azerbaijani border guard, committing acts of provocation against our national flag, and continuing to misuse the Lachin road. If Armenia genuinely supports Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, it should not oppose the transportation of goods via the Aghdam-Khankendi road and should not hinder the reintegration process.

At the end of the appeal, it is emphasized that the international community should adopt a responsible approach regarding the mentioned issues, refrain from falling for Armenia’s manipulations, and explain to Armenia the necessity of engaging in constructive dialogue.
